Pennies from Heaven - Billie Holiday (1936)

"Pennies from Heaven" was first introduced by Bing Crosby in the 1936 film of the same name and was recorded in the same year by Billie Holiday. Music by Arthur Johnston and words by Johnny Burke.

"Pennies from Heaven" afterwards performed by many other jazz and pop singers including Frank Sinatra, Gene Ammons, Louis Armstrong, Tony Bennett, Clark Terry, Arthur Tracy, Big Joe Turner, Dean Martin, Skrewdriver, The Skyliners (a major hit in 1960), and Louis Prima.

This recording was done in late 1936, with Jonah Jones (trumpet) Ben Webster (tenorsax), Allan Reuss (guitar), John Kirby (bass), and Cozy Cole (drums).
